Just For Kids

Adults in the farming community should educate children who live in or near the farm workplace of the dangers. The statistics are sobering:

In Ontario, children & youth between the ages of 1-19yrs. accounted for 17.9% of all fatalities. And whereby children 1-4yrs represented more than half of the deaths under 15yrs -- an extremely high statistic considering they don't actively participate and engage in farm work.

Runovers of bystanders or fallen passenger are overwhelmingly the leading cause of fatality among this age group, followed by being entangled, pinned or struck by machinery.

In terms of injuries, approximately 20% of all injuries, which occur on Ontario farms, are accounted by this age group. (These injuries tend to be related to tractors, PTO entanglements, falling from height and animal related.)
These pages are to provide some resources and materials for interested parties, be they 5 or 65, to help make their farm workplaces safer places to live and work.
